About Me

About Chad Moore

My Life Story

I was born in Winnipeg, MB with the majority of my extended family living in Brandon, MB. To this day, coaching and helping people was in my blood, but more on that in a bit. My family moved to Edmonton, AB when I was a small child. My Father worked as an insurance adjuster working his way up the corporate ladder. We started with humble beginnings. I remember being in “small” homes (relative to today’s standards) and being in “older” vehicles. But my parents were young and doing the best they could. My Father was on a relentless pursuit of more. I think he wanted more for his family so he worked incredibly hard to provide for my younger brother, my Mother and myself. My Mother worked in and out of the insurance industry as a local babysitter for other neighbourhood kids, and later as a successful merchant services sales rep for CIBC & ATB. I have fond memories of those times before and after school. Because of my parents work ethic our family was able to grow up in a middle class lifestyle.

Entrepreneurship

My Grandfather (my Dad’s Dad) was an businessman in Brandon, MB. He purchased an auto-wrecking business when he was a young man. He operated that until his retirement and sale of the land and assets. My Mother’s sister was also an entrepreneur, buying her own hair salon. Both of these business were “successful” in terms of revenue, fulfillment and lifestyle. Growing up with this extended family surroundings, I knew there was something for me but taking steps towards this would come after graduating from University.

I spent two years working with a friend who started a business in College selling natural food products. We were both young and hungry for growth. The two of us, and my friends girlfriend at the time, grew our business from a local Farmers Market into major retail stores across Western Canada. Our retail locations included large and small grocery store chains like Planet Organic, Community Natural Foods, Calgary Co-Op, IGA and Sobey’s. I had a great time and am very thankful for that experience.

Working in a small team environment fit me well because of my athletic background. I have fortunately lived in two beautiful parts of Canada in pursuit of my football playing career: Kelowna, BC and Halifax, NS. Halifax is where I eventually graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Commerce degree. I was fortunate to be named a captain of our team in 2005-2006. I also took in new recruits to our team during their recruiting trips to Halifax from various parts of the country. I also had the fortunate experience of being a player representative to hire a new head football coach. I went through the entire interview process with University brass and eventually came to a decision.

After graduation I moved back to Calgary where the Mortgage industry was next for me. I remember saying to my Brother, when deciding to start this adventure in 2009, that I wanted to help people, which brings you to this website today.

Give To Get

I truly believe in the “give to get” mentality. From 2009 I have been coaching High School football at Western Canada (one and a half year sabbatical). My skills as an amateur football player were accelerated by volunteer coaches. I always knew there would be a time for me to give back the knowledge and information I was so fortunate to acquire during my playing career. Over time, I look forward to meeting the High School kids I coach as young men.

More recently, I have been invited to join the Board of Director for the Calgary Colts Junior Football Club. I am grateful to be a part of this organization (again) and for the opportunity to give back to football, at a completely different level. As a player I never thought about team financing, budgets, bus/hotel expenses or purchasing new jersey’s. Being on the board is where everything is coming full circle.

Doing A 180

What I think most new Mortgage Professionals, and quite frankly, 90% of my industry still do to this day, is focus on the Mortgage product. And that’s exactly what I did when I started out. But I was determined to help people understand the importance of their Mortgage. And that worked to an extent. However, I thought there must be more.

I have an extensive and diverse background in athletics and am very susceptible to coaching. In fact, I absolutely love to learn which is where I get a lot of my feelings of success in my life. So I began a journey to help develop my skills as a Mortgage Professional, and what I was about to learn was just as important, my marketing skills.

I joined a coaching community for Mortgage Professionals called the Mortgage Professionals Academy, founded by Greg Williamson. Greg’s been a Mortgage Broker for 20+ years with a very decorated career in terms of business growth, industry awards and acknowledgements. As well, Greg is a emotionally intelligent individual with a unique skill to inspire others. Greg is a close friend and personal mentor to me to this day.

Throughout my time as a student in the Mortgage Professionals Academy I became closer with Greg as a Mortgage Broker and asset to his community. Over time, I became drawn to helping Greg help other Mortgage Brokers, like myself, who are seeking to improve their skill in sales and marketing.

Everything that I have had the privilege of learning from the Mortgage Professionals Academy is what I implement in my business today. This is client care, marketing and MUCH more.

A New Life

Today, I enjoy riding my mountain bike in the summer and skiing in the winter. I am the proud leader of my dog Lucy! Lucy is a Chesapeake Bay Rertreiver (Chessy). Lucy is keen to please, driven and very loyal. I am thankful to have her in my life.

My younger brother, Chase, has grown into several different careers in corporate Calgary starting as Suncor, moving to forgien exchange at RBC and now Keyera mid-stream oil & gas. Chase is a close personal friend of mine today.

My Mother is re-married and living in Regina, SK with a great guy! She’s half way to Brandon, MB to visit her parents, sister and cousins. My mom really likes the smaller city feel of Regina, relative to Calgary.

My Father passed away in 2009. This has been a major life event for me. I often think about how short of time we really have to make a difference and create something of lasting value.
